Card Fraud Alerts

We’re your ally in spotting and stopping debit and credit card fraud.

Here's what card fraud alerts are about…

First Financial works with fraud protection services to continuously monitor your First Financial Visa® credit and debit cards. This service is free* to members and helps identify and prevent fraudulent transactions. If any transaction occurs on your card that is unusual or outside your normal spending patterns, it may prompt us to contact you to confirm the transaction.

What will the text message alert look like?

A text message will be sent with:

  • The last 4 digits of the card number used
  • The amount of the transaction
  • The name of the merchant making the charge

Then you:

  • Reply YES if the transaction is authorized (you recognize the charge)
    • You will receive a second text message thanking you for confirming the transaction and letting you know the account is safe for continued use.
  • Reply NO if the transaction is NOT authorized (you do not recognize the charge)
    • Fraud Services will call to confirm your reply and immediately block the card for you. You would then need to contact First Financial at 800-903-3328 for help regarding next steps.
  • If no response is received from the text message, an additional text message or email may be sent, followed by a call to the phone number on file with your account.

What if there’s no mobile phone number on the account?

Fraud Services will call you at the home phone number on file. They may also contact you by email if an email address is on file.

  • You will be asked questions to verify your identity.
  • If there’s no answer, a message will be left that includes a case number and phone number for you to call to verify the transaction.
  • At no time will a First Financial representative ask for your full card number, expiration date or security code.
